  1. Ask your pediatrician before you switch. Why soy milk?

  2. i would suggest that you try prune juice and banana. it really helps in their constipation.

    barley juice helps too.

if he still constipate then you have to consult your dr and the dr might give you lactulose to help soften your baby poo poo.

  3. Well I don't know what your baby should try but ,when my brother was younger he was always on soy formula and he had been constipated ever since which I find really creepy :S :S :S

  4. at 7 months you can introduce foods that are high in fiber like oranges, prunes, oatmeal.  avoid foods that constipate like rice.

  5. I had my baby girl on soy based formula, till the 4th month, but try giving her water at least 3 oz. That will help 4 sure!

If not go 2 the doc!

  6. First question:  Why is the baby on soy instead of milk based formula?

Second question: Are you sure that the baby is constipated, or does he just p**p rarely?  It's not considered constipation if they p**p only every few days.  It's constipation if when he poops it's hard (like pellets or marbles).

Third question:  Have you started solids already?  That could definitely change the baby's digestion.

The short answer here is that you need to speak to your pediatrician if the baby is actually constipated.  It can be dangerous if left untreated, and I personally would not recommend just winging it with prune juice or extra water, etc.  Good luck!

  7. my baby was put on enfamil's ... nutramegean (spelling is probably off) when he was having milk allergies... it is about the most expensive formula most stores carry, like double regular formula, but he didn;t have any trouble on it

  8. coloxyl drops or brown sugar in some cooled boiled water

but coloxyl drop are the way to go just get them from the chemist

or put a cotton bud covered in lubrication just up the bum about 2 cm

    works a treat

  9. My baby had this same problem.  My pediatrician told me to give him 2 ounces of prune juice mixed with 2 ounces of water.  It worked every time.  The alternative is to mix a tablespoon of Dark Karo Syrup in each bottle til he goes.  I also tried this and it works too.  I had to do this daily for my baby as long as he was on the soy.  We finally were able to switch to regular formula at 10.5 months.  He was fine after that.
