I have to return to work next week and husband is going to look after the baby. Do you think he'll learn to settle with his Dad? I'm so worried. I am being forced to go back to work by employer, though only for 3 weeks. Seems like an eternity to me though :-(

  1. He will be fine...I bet Dad plays with him a lot and the baby associates Dad with being energetic and playful...if so, try getting him to play less with him half an hour before bedtime....he will be great...and as it is his Dad he is in the best hands..imagine if you had to leave him at a daycare with strangers!

  2. Yes because right now you are the one that feeds him, changes his nappy and he is completely reliant on you. Once dad takes over he will bond with him more.

  3. im sure your baby will get used to having dad around

  4. He was inside you for 9 months, and you were most likely the first person he ever saw, of course he'll be more comfortable around his mother, however eventually he will get used to his father being around and more accepting to the idea of being held by him.

  5. It's just because you're the primary caregiver.  I went back to work when my son was 6 weeks (until he was 10 weeks, I was a teacher who just worked to finish out the school year) and my husband took paternity leave.  I fed morning and night and pumped bottles for my DH to feed the baby.  It was hard on me emotionally, because after a week or two it was my husband that could always magically put the baby down.  It will happen for you too.  Just remember, your husband won't do things exactly the way you do them, but he loves your son and it will be okay.
