My 7 week old kitten fell down a 10ft drop. Will he be ok?

We have this super active, playful kitten. He's very curious and is always exploring and getting himself in to trouble. He follows me everywhere and whilst I was upstairs he decided he had to come up too. At the top of our stairs there is a small gap maybe 10cm high that he loves to look over and watch to see if anyones coming. Well tonight, he fell down it. He's not playful at all, hes moving, but not very much and he yelps if my partner and I go anywhere near him. He also seems to be swaying back and forth a lot, kind of like he's giddy!?!?! He's a huge eater and will finish the food in our other cats bowl after eating his, but now he has no appetite. I'm really worried about him. We've called the vets but they've just said to leave him until the morning and if he's still the same to bring him in. I'm a bit concerned about leaving it until the morning. Should I be? Do you think he'll be fine?

I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me on this one!

Thanks a million in advance!!!

  1. I would take him to the vet.  He may have injuries you can't see

  2. take him into the emergency vets,a fall like that is very dangerous,he could have broken a rib,a paw,his leg..i wouldn't leave him till morning he must be in a lot of pain and needs some pain relief injection or tablets.please take him now.

  3. Usually cats, even small kittens, will be fine after a fall like that, but I'd take him to a vet in the morning because of the behavior.  He may have a concussion or some sort of serious injury.  Look and see if there's an emergency vet available in your area that could see him this evening.  You'll pay a lot more and he may be ok, but it sounds like the peace of mind will be worth it.

  4. Well, cats can usually survive falls pretty easily. They will usually land on their paws because they can twist their bodies midair. I've seen one fall out of a thirty foot tree and run away. So, really, I'm sure your kitten will be fine.

Little kittens will probably heal, but if you're worried, take him to the vet. I say you should wait a week or so, and if his appetite hasn't come back you should visit the vet.

    He's probably shaken, but fine.

  5. take him immediately to the vet he may have an internal bleeding.

  6. 8 more lives left! he'll be just fine

  7. your kitty will probably be ok.. just maybe a little sore or in shock. if he still doesn't eat by tomorrow or is acting the same you should DEFINATLY take him to the vet. Id be worried to.. good luck!

  8. I don't think he's in immediate danger, so I recommend you follow your vet's advice unless you're really worried. Your kitten seems to be in pain, so you should avoid having him exercise or move very much until the morning. You could try making him comfortable by setting up his own area with a bed, food, and water next to a litterbox so he doesn't have to go very far to get what he needs.

  9. Sorry, I say he's a goner.  Best to just throw him away.

  10. Do what the vet says. You're right to worry, he's your little baby!

  11. Oh, yes, cats are very used to long drops....if he has a change in appetite I would take him to the vet, though. :)

  12. where he had his fall he is scared,he will eat again when he is ready too couple of things u need to watch out for is if he is sick and cant stay on his feet if this happens ring a vet asap hope this helps u out
