  1. just ask her what she likes to do and you should be fine unless its something outrageous but you said shes shy so i dont think she'll like things that are too outrageous

  2. Board games, puzzles, maybe if you have beads you could help her make a necklace to keep( to remember the day she first came to your house,),

If these things dont work - put in a good movie (high school musical, camp rock, any Disney one with a princess).

Or take her to a park or outside to play.

  3. My 7 year old LOVES to have her nails painted!!  You could get some cute new nail polish colors for her and give her a little mani/pedi and maybe do her hair.  OR, she could do it herself if she'd rather, or you could do each other.  All the other suggestions of arts/crafts, Disney channel, etc. are excellent.  My daughter also has a Nintendo DS she loves...maybe you could either rent some games for her to try if she has a DS or get a cheap hand-held game at Target.  OH--BAKING!!  My girls LOOOOVE to bake cookies (more so to eat the dough than anything, LOL)--baking is always fun w/ any kids.  They LOVE to create and they love eating their snack even more!

I'd ask her mom/dad up front what she really enjoys so you don't strike out with whatever you choose.

Good luck and have fun!  :)

  4. well you could try asking her what she wants to do.  but if she doesn't say anything then maybe you could go outside and play hide and seek, just go for a walk and show her where you live and stuff, take her to a playground..   if it is a bad day then you could play with teddy bears,  make arts and crafts, let her play with a pet (if you have one)..

  5. 7 years old is a great age! She is old enough (hopefully turstworthy) to give her freedom. I dont mean let her play by herself, I mean ask her what she wants to do. She knows what she likes, what she is used to, and what she doesnt.

If you are up for it, make cookies or a cake or something. It will take time, give you time to chat (7 year olds are good at that!), be a learning expirence for her, and give you a yummy treat for after a meal or for her to take home and share with her family.

Other ideas: take a walk, bring a soccer ball to the park and kick it around, maybe go to the library or mall something she is familar with but is different than the one she goes to at home, do you have any neighbor kids? maybe they could come over, puzzles, coloring, board games may work also.

Good Luck! Have fun with her!
