He has recently lost his companion of 7 years and I feel this has made him worse. I would appreciate any tips on how I can get him to be calmer and relax more!

  1. Your poor dog is grieving and feels insecure, perhaps you could get a routine going at least twice a day where he is exposed to other dogs and people to build up his socialising skills and improve his confidence.

If you go to a shelter to look at getting another dog, this could make your dog feel threatened.

Increased socialising is definitely the way forward.

    Good luck.

  2. You can buy Pheronomes in a bottle that you plug into an outlet . Order from Drs Foster and Smith or buy a a big petstore .

Also another companion animal might help .

  3. awww i lost my white boxer last year and my other has gone quiet mine is 13 now lol my white one was 12,

Do you not want to get another that may help.

  4. Stay close to him to show comfort. Cuddeling could be help. I hope this helps you, and good luck.

  5. It sound like he has separation exsinty try showing him that if you go some were you will always come back by going out f a room and closing a door and by coming back in 10 Min's when you get that down do 11 Min's then 12 etc, try getting him a treat toy (knongs are my favorite)

ps sorry about spelling and sorry about your lose

    hope it all works out
