  1. Your 7 year old has Medicare? That's for the elderly and the disabled.  If you mean Medicaid.  I've worked in insurance billing for 15 years and you definitely have to go to a surgeon and a hospital that accepts your insurance, so that you won't have any huge out of pocket expenses.  There's also anesthesia, labs, (maybe) pathologists. But they usually follow under the RAPL rule, stating that as long as you use a participating facility/hospital those 'extras' are covered.

  2. Medicaid will cover tonsils to be removed if medically necessary.  They won't remove them unless an ENT deems them dangerous to keep in.  Medicaid covers the whole cost of the surgery.

  3. Everyone has tonsils unless they had them removed.  Tonsils are a body part..not an illness.  You need to call your insurance company.

  4. My 4 year old got his tonsils out last October, it was h**l! Does the doctor really need to perform this procedure? And if so i suggest you take 3-7 days off of work it will be worth it! Good Luck!

  5. In the last 15 years ENTs aren't taken tonsil out as before. Unless it's really serious. If the ENT deems it necessary,  medicaid will cover.

Medicare is for senior citizens, doesn't cover children

  6. i had mine taken out when i was little. the were infected, it is covered by medicare and you dont have to pay for it. they have to stay in hospital for a day or 2 so the nurses can check on them. i remember when i had mine taken out all i could eat was toast and ice-cream and that i could not talk for like a week, but every-one is different, my friend could not talk for 1day. and to the person who said medicare is for the elderly that is so wrong, evertone is australia has one

  7. tonsils are normal

    tonsilitis are not

  8. Everybody is born with tonsils. Your daughter doesn't need to have them removed unless they are inflamed or infected, which is called "tonsilitis". I'm a U.S. Veteran with VA benefits and I work both full- time and part-time. Neither my employers insurance program nor VA benefits would "cover" surgery costs. How did you get "medicare" and what is a "health care card"?

The "Greatest Country in the World" my A~~ !

  9. They can do, the best thing is to talk to the doctor about it or ring up medicare and ask.

This may sound silly, but when I was little, I had tonsilitus (however you spell it) for a really long time, but my mum (an ex nurse) didn't want me to get them taken out because it can be pretty dangerous for kids my age, so instead she took me to a naturotherapist who found out that I was intollorant to dairy. Once I took dairy out of my diet, the tonsilitus went away and never came back.

It's just a suggestion, but I hope it helped ^^

  10. Im guessing your from Australia??????  which would explain why the americans dont know what yout talking about in regards to medicare......

I have Tonsils that are abnormally large and would have tonsilitis when i was younger at least once a month in which case my throat would all but close up cause of the size of them. But the doctor didnt suggest taking them out at that time cause they stopped taking them out of kids. I only recently got tonsilitis again and i went to the doctor and he said that if it got to the point of not being able to swallow my saliva then i would have to go to the ED and be put on IV antibiotics. I have been referred to a ears nose and throat specialist to see about having them taken out but I dont know about how much it will cost and what not, cause when you have experienced what i have no matter what the cost you want them out. ..lol
