He stepped on it this morning. It was about a inch long and over half of it went into his foot. My husband pulled the nail out. It started to bleed then stopped. He is up to date on the tetanus shot. We did not take him to the hosp. because he stepped on one at my mothers house before and when we did take him they said there is nothing they can do because he is up to date on his shots. should i take him over this one it is bigger

  1. You should take him in to get it cleaned out.  Better safe than sorry!

  2. ...Of course you should take him there...It could still be infected!

  3. Clean it out with peroxide. Keep it wrapped up to keep the dirt out of it. And if it gets infected,, like red and irritated and streaky then take him to the doctor.

  4. clean it with hydrogen peroxide. or  some other antiseptic. cover it up. and that is all, as long as it quit bleeding and is properly wrapped he will be fine. I work in contracting, happens all the time.

  5. well if he is up to date on the tetanus shot then i wouldn't worry about it.  but just to be on the safe side, i would take him in to make sure that it didn't get infected.

  6. OUCH! take him to hospital

  7. Why have you spo many nails in your home? I mean, what are the chances? Anyways, things happen.

I suggest you take him to the hosital. It might have affected a bone and growing could be disturbed.

    Infections and what not. Gangrene?

I'm sure you love your boy so I hope you know what you are doing.

2nd time round it looks bad at the hospittal but don't let that hold you back.

Keep the nails away from him

  8. If you squeezed it til it bleed for a little bit (best way to help clean out puncture wounds) and then washed it very well and put some iodine or bactine on it, you should be okay. Keep an eye on it for the next week or so and make sure it's healing properly.
