My 7 years old son cough every night

Question

My 7 years old son cough every night when he is trying to sleep. Sometime i could hear he coughed in middle of the night. Any suggestion?

Poor little lamb....the best thing that worked for me when my daughter was coughing so much was to put a little vapor rub on the bottom of her feet then cover them with socks.. ..she slept better and with little to no cough. She was happier in the morning too for the good nights sleep.. she was 4 when I started doing this but this seems to be the only thing apart from OD'ing the child with cough medicine which I don't really believe in.. Good Luck ..

maybe d whether too  much 4 him,or u always on AC 4 him. pls try to let ur room or his room always warn and stop him of drink anything cool, but if remain the the same pls take him to d hospital....goodday

it depends on the type of cough i guess. i just had bronchitis so if it happens everyday then you should take him to the doctor. if it is only at night then it could be from dust in his room.

Could be asthma - often a night time cough is the first symptom. Or an allergy to house dust mites, in which case, you might want to use special bedding, or treat the allergy. If I were you, I would not ignore this, as asthma can become serious without much warning, so see your doctor. If it is asthma, using inhalers usually stops the cough at night. At 7, he has plenty of time to grow out of this.

my son did too... it was asthma... make sure there are no smokers in the house ( or around him at all) and get him to a doctor to be checked out asap!
