My 7 yr old has a some irritation in her private area , could be a bladder infection but she is on medication and I have heard that you can either put baking powder or baking soda in the bath water and it tends to sooth the area any suggestions would help

My daughter has these quite often as she was born with 3 kidneys, she is on medication for it and sees the doctor alot , all I was asking was baking soda or baking powder it a home remedy that helps her when she is red and irritated in that area

  1. try zinc and castor oil freely available from any chemist its very soothing i would think baking powder would be very drying on her skin

  2. i would seek a second opion on the issue

  3. She's too young call a doctor.

  4. give some cranberry juice to drink it helps.

  5. Antibiotics - long term - especially the ones used for uti can cause yeast ingection - Ive used baking soda in the bath and sprinkled like talcum powder. Anti fungal creams or cortisone creams - doctor recommended anti fungal tablet for my 7 year old - it worked. Good luck - hope your daughter improves soon.

  6. Sometimes medications such as antibiotics can cause an infection in this area. This happened to my daughter a lot. A nurse told me to give her  acidopholus  (spelling?) and it worked!

It is a natural remedy so you can get it at any store where the vitamins are and give the dosage it states on the bottle.

  7. My granddaughter can not take bubble bathes or she has the issues you describe. It causes her to have infections even as a young child, At persent she can take a bubble bath once a month or so.

Please call the doctor, juist to be safe,

  8. Consult your doctor.

  9. Ummmm...call the doc. Just a guess.

  10. why do you keep posting this same question?

  11. It could be a yeast infection and not a bladder infection especially since the area is red and irritated.  Over-the-counter meds are now available for yeast infections along with topical creams to relieve itching.  Another visit to the doctor seems in order too.
