My 7 yr old boy has frequent bloody noses, sometimes even wakes up during the night with them. Has them at school problaby 4 this yr so far. When he sleeps he has a loud breathing. Not snoring, just breaths very loud. This isnt the case tho, when hes awake. Anyone dealt with this with their child?

  1. try some nasal saline a few times a day to moisturize. I personally like simply saline, but ocean or ayr would work too. you might want to have him tested for sleep apnea too.

  2. When the air is dry this will happen as it dries out the membranes inside the nose.  Using a saline spray may help but ayr is actually better or simply putting vaseline in the nose.  Allergies can also be a culprit as well causing the membranes to be inflamed and then when they blow the nose they bleed.  My daughter use to get them so bad we would be at the ENT or ER at least once a week.  Try using one of those products and also put a cool mist humidifier in his room at night when he is sleeping.  This really made a huge difference in my daughters nose bleeds and knock on wood it has been almost a year since her last one.

  3. i know what your going tru, my 6 year old has them all the time, dry air is the main culprit...also if he/she is a picker that makes it worse

my boy is a big time nose picker and has at least 3-4 nose bleads a week, once so savere that we had to go to the er to get it cotirized<<<dont know if thats the correct spelling)  if you child is getting them 3 times a day i would think he probily need to get it cotirized also....and maybe try keeping a humidifier in his room that has helped with my son.....and tell him to keep those fingers out lol

    hope this helps good luck

  4. yes, very normal. It also ould be sinacis. My mom is a doctor well a RN (Registerd Nurse)

  5. This use to happen to my son all the time. Nose bleeds just like yours. He has to have a humidifier running at all times at night or he will get nose bleed. Since running that he doesn't really get them much unless it is a terrible time for allergies, then I get a qtip and put Vaseline on it and put some in his nose. This works great!!!

  6. Yes it is normal during the winter months.

Try a humidifier in his room at night or a fish tank,   You can also get ocean spray nasal spray otc for help also.  I am a nurse and have patients on O2 uses Ky jelly in their nose and that also helps.
