My 79 300 sd diesel mercedes benz engine keeps running after i turn off key,why? help?

diesels do not use spark they use the heat and compression of the engine and mercedes are highly advanced for there time everything runs on vaccum and your problem lies in that the fuel cutoff vaccum line may be brokenand needs to be replaced

has this happened for more than one tank? maybe the wrong fuel. non deisel with predetonate in high compression motors cause it to run without needing an ignition source.

It could be that your kill wire has came off of the fuel injection pump.Your ignition switch could be  bad,It's letting it start be not killing it.
