Has anyone with an infant with gerd had this occur? Any suggestions

on how to sooth his throat? Called Dr, was told it was viral and had

to run its course, but I am not sure I agree with that.

  1. Get a second opinion. The doctor is not always right. Breastmilk is the best way to soothe the throat, but if your baby will sit still for it, perhaps a warm washcloth on the outside of the throat?  A warm bath? Antacids?

  2. My 6 week old son also has acid reflux. My physician indicated that it isn't uncommon for infants to get hoarse from the acid reflux. He called it reflux laryngitis. If I remember correctly he said it was caused by aspirating small amounts of stomach contents which irritated the vocal cords.

  3. my daughter had this problem, we had her sleep in her bouncy so she was upright and the reflux wouldnt be as bad, my pediatriction told me yesterday that they can take chamomille tea, which is soothing to both the stomach and throat. (my LO is only 1 1/2 mo). We haven't tried the tea yet, but just keeping her upright helped and after a few days her throat was better.
