  1. I just wanted to say that those pacifier thermometers do not work at all. I tried them with my daughter and ended up throwing it out since it always gave me a ridiculous high temp. I would take it either under the arm or rectally after and it would be much much lower.

  2. First of all, don't panic. Give her something now to reduce her temperature like calpol and call your doctor and explain that you think she has a high temperature but you are not getting an adequate reading from your thermometer. She should probably be seen anyway as you were obviously concerned about something to check her temperature in the first place.

  3. Please get her to the hospital that tmeperature is way too high for an adult let alone a baby :(

  4. OH MY!! Take her to the hospital quickly! That is way too high! Especially for an infant! I'd say the reading you took through her mouth is more accurate... she needs medication, and quickly!

  5. Take her temperature rectally. It is the most accurate way to determine her temp.

Do not rush to the hospital. There is no need. Call your pediatrician and ask what the appropriate dosage of Tylenol is for your baby's age/size. If the fever increases, call the doctor back.

My 8-month old has run a 103 temp before and we were advised to use Tylenol to bring it down and keep her cool. I dressed her lightly and used a cool wet cloth to wipe her face off. Tylenol brought the fever down and she was a-ok.

Rushing to the hospital is silly because it is not an emergency and they will just make you wait. Also, it is possible to pick up some nasty germs in the ER, you don't want to take your baby in for a fever and come out with some sort of horrible virus.

  6. Under the arm you add a degree, my doctor didn't want me using the pacifier thermometer.  Either way, your babe's got a fever.  I would either give her Motrin and monitor her for a day or two and see if the fever improves, or just take her to the doctor.

  7. Give her medicine immediately to reduce her temperature and remove her clothing to cool her down but do not let her shiver, that raises the body temp.

A theremometer will give slightly different temps in different parts of the body ie anal/mouth/armpit/forehead.

    Make a docs appt.

  8. If her temp is really 103.7, she probably needs to be seen in the ER.  I had a pacifier thermometer for my baby and it never seemed to work right.  The ear one didn't either.  For my second kid, the only temp that the doctor would accept was a rectal temp, so I had to learn to take her temperature that way.  That would be a good idea for you to try now, because you really do need to figure out how high her fever is.  Hold her facedown across your lap, and only insert the thermometer about an inch.

When you take the temp under the arm, you're supposed to add a degree, which would mean her temperature is 101.1.  Once you figure out what her temperature really is, you should call the doctor for advice, if it's that high.

  9. if its saying yours is normal its definatly not broke

so i would take the reading as accurate and go and get her to a doctor even if theres a slight difference between the two thermometers its still a high temp. x
