been going on for about 2 weeks. shes teething which is why, i think, but im concerned because she didnt really eat that much before this decrease. shes never eaten veggies and bananas and peaches are basically the only food she wont spit at me. im going to ask her pediatricion at the next apt, but do you think or ever heard of an 8 month old being on a multivitamin? also any suggestions on how to get her to eat different things, especially veggies???

  1. At 8 months basically all your daughter's nutrition should still be coming from milk. Up to a year old, solids are only for practice. She doesn't need extra nutrients because she gets them from the milk. It wouldn't matter at this age if you were giving her no solids at all.

You get her to eat different things by giving her different things. If you give her something and she refuses it, that's fine - but she doesn't get sweet fruit instead, just milk. It's important that she learns that she eats what she is given or she doesn't eat, or you'll end up with an obese five year old who will only eat junk food because you always give it to her if she refuses healthy stuff. Like I said, you can safely do this now because the food doesn't matter at this age. But she'll soon decide just milk is boring and start trying other tastes if they're all that is available.

  2. TALK TO YOUR CHILD'S DOCTOR!! You're doctor would most definately know best. You can't trust anyone who tells you things unless their a trained professional. I'm 13 years old and i'm telling you this.

  3. mine did that when she started to get her teeth it only lasted a week or so

  4. you sound like me.  my baby goes through this..has twice, and it was bc she was teething, just didnt want food.  i worry like you.. but my concerns arent with food as much as drink.   if your baby is taking formula...or breastfeeding. they really dont need more.  think of people way back when.. all they had was their b***s to nurse...other than that they could hit a potatoe off a rock and hope to get some down their babies throats... i worry too much too, but they are still alive right?  just think really of what a baby can survive on. to let you know... my baby might get 6- 8 oz. of fluids a day.. breast milk if im lucky.. she never has taken a bottle.  books say what they need, but in the end... their alive and functioning... althought this  dosnt help our need to try to keep them alive.. its not up to us..

  5. Hello.Don't worry,if she is putting on weight every month, not losing. You can get vitamin drops for babies.Just keep trying her with different foods,if she sees you eating them she will want to try it.If possible stick to organic food and make sure she has at least a pint of milk a day.If you are breastfeeding you don't have to worry.Yoghurts always go down well.

  6. My daughter went through a period of eating nearly nothing as for baby food. If she is still drinking formula or breastfeeding alright you are totally ok. Babies dont get a whole lot of nutrition from solid foods when they are that young its just an introduction to food pretty much. My daughter hated veggies until about 3 or 4 weeks back and she just turned a year yesterday. We went into WIC for her height and weight and shes doing perfect. She is 50 percentile for weight and I thought she is too skinny but she weights normal. I wouldnt truly be concerned but it honestly couldnt hurt to talk to doc about the multi- vitamin. Make sure she gets at least 24 oz of formula a day though because thats where the majority of her nutrients come from! Hope it helps and good luck on your sweet little girl!!!
