  1. does a bad kid = ADHD?  c**p, we all had it.

  2. I would set up a schedual and reward him for the things he does well. My idea:

Make a chart, laminate it, and use dry-erase markers to add up points. Use bright colors.

Each day, if he gets up nicely, that's a point. No kicking- another point, ect.

When he gets to a reasonable amount of points, he gets a special prize. Let him pick. A toy, movie day, whatever.

Don't be afraid to take away points, either!

    Best of luck!

  3. It's not unusual for children with ADHD to have problems getting up in

the morning.  If your child is taking medication, you might check with

your physician to find out whether or not you can give him  a dose of

the medication one half hour before he  awakens.  You do this by coming

into his room with the medication one half hour early, waking him up,

and then letting him go back to sleep for another half an hour.

Sometimes this early morning dose can help reduce oppositionality and

thus make getting up in the morning much easier.

Sometimes sleep problems are a side effect of ADHD medication.  If the

child is having sleep problems, this will interfere with his/her ability

to get up in the morning.  It is important to make sure that your child

is getting enough sleep every night.  If your child is having a

difficult time falling asleep, there are different things that you can

try.  If it appears that the medication is interfering with sleep, you

can try to give the medication earlier and thus hopefully reduce the

sleep problems.  If it does not appear that the ADHD medication is

interfering with  sleep, but the child is having problems falling

asleep, you can check with the physician about the possibility of giving

a small dose of medication one half hour prior to sleep.  Sometimes

children with ADHD have difficulty falling asleep because they cannot

stop their mind from thinking.  Medication taken one half hour before

bedtime can help with this problem.

This information seems to conflict.  On the one hand the medication can

interfere with falling asleep, and on the other hand the medication can

help the child to fall asleep.  Working with your physician and trying

different options can help you figure  out the best choice for your

    child

A third possibility is to utilize a reward system for getting up

appropriately in the morning.  Fixing a special breakfast treat for good

mornings is one way to reward appropriate behavior.  Another way is to

allow your child time to watch a special television program in the

morning if he gets up without arguments.

  4. The only way is to get rid of the ADHD.

    My cousin had this too.

What they did was took him to theoropy, and a doctor where they subsribed pills.

Then they got him into trampolining.  This was an extra boost because it wears them down, and gives him less energy.  :)

Before they knew it, my cousin was just normal, and not hyper at all!

  5. I suggest to just homeschool him. Why go through all the stress?

  6. talk to a psychiatrist...there may be more going on than just the ADHD. there is a possibility of giving him a medication right before bed to help him not be so mean when he wakes up. My son is 12 and takes Risperdal after dinner...it makes him sleepy and less violent. it reduces the fight or flight instinct

    e-mail me for more details.

  7. The blame is on the parent, not child. Dust his *** with a belt

  8. Personally, I believe the ADHD/ADD is a lie they are feeding us to medicate our children. Every child learns differently. Like me, I learn doing hands-on. Because I had a short attention span and learned different, I was ADD. I refused to take my medicine, and now I am glad. Research the truth about ADD/ADHD.

Also, do you have a whole foods? Or any natural health store will work.. they do have homeopathic stuff to help your son focus .

As for your son not cooperating in the morning. This has NOTHING to do with his "ADHD" I was the SAME way. But it was because my mom didn't nip it in the butt. I am not criticizing you as a parent.. but your son is now doing this because its been allowed. Because he is so difficult to wake up in the morning, set his bed time back a good hour and 15 min. Then set an alarm clock in his room. When it goes off, turn on the light and say "come on, lets get going" keep the light on and come back every few min to remind him its time to wake up. Also, start taking this away. Maybe he has a favorite video game, or maybe there is an activity you do after school.. take that away and allow him to earn them back by cooperating in the mornings.

  9. I don'[t know if there is much to do, but talk to his doctor, my son has bi-polar and adhd to, his mornings are horrible till we get his meds into him and get him started for the day.  It takes me about half hour to get him out of bed.  I find it easier to sit beside them and rub his back and talk to him.  If he stasts swinging, I move to the other side of the room and keep calling at him, to wake up, you got to wake up and get ready for school.  Take his blankets if I need to.  I have been to the point where he is fist fighting with me in the morning,  You just have to stand your ground.  But diffently talk to your doctor about it.  See if they have any suggestions.  Sometimes early bedtimes, help.  Sometimes, instead of them bathing at night, have him bath in the morning that helps wake them up.

  10. make sure he is getting a good nights sleep, consider bedtime an hour ealrier, not as a punishment, but becuase he needs more sleep.

  11. Make sure he is getting enough sleep, my son is 19 and was diagnosed when he was 9 with ADD and depression. He takes Remeron for sleeping. It does help him to fall asleep faster and he seems to get a better nights sleep. Just make sure if he takes this med he gets enough time to get it through his system or he will be even more difficult to wake up. Also start a rewards system and see if that works for when he does get up and moving. Whatever you do find a way to stop the abusiveness now, because he will get worse with age believe me my son is very abusive and aggressive and i truly wish i had been more firm with him when he was younger.
