My 8 year old sister's classmate died-how can i help her?

My sister is 8 years old, and going into third grade. We found out this morning, that one of her classmates,(who was also her crush) had passed away in a car crash. I went to school with him to, and it hurts me to. She is SO upset, and i cant find a way to help her. I dont want to see her sad, pleez help!

The other answers to be there for her are so true, I would add one very important thing. She has just been through a very traumatic thing for her age. She needs to talk with your parents also. Grief can be very overwhelming. Your parents need to always be aware of where she, and you also, are at emotionally with his death. Please talk to them. I am so sorry you have had to go through this lose at such a young age. I am sorry you have lost your friend.

and ask her if she wants to talk! but if she doesn'...don't push her!

Be there for her, listen if she needs to talk, let her know she can talk to you in confidence if she needs to, cry with her if you feel moved to.  It all takes time.  I lost a friend to cancer when I was 7 and another to suicide when I was 12.  I didn't want to talk about it at first, but eventually came around.  Just be there for her, your presence can help, even if she doesn't show it.

I am so sorry about that.  I agree with the other posters, that just being there for her is the best thing to do.  Let her know that she can talk to you when she needs to, and let her cry when she needs to. I know it's hard to see someone you love so sad.  My nephew died last year, and as hard as it was, it was also really hard to see my kids so upset by it.  My son found out about 20 minutes before he had to leave for work!  But I knew that the best way to help them get better was to let them feel the pain and to be available for them.
