My son was diagnosed with JRA yesterday. They are looking into the type he may have. Wondering if anyone out there has a child with this and how they are doing. Course of mediciation they are taking, treatments, etc. My son is almost 8 and it is in both knees and right ankle so far.

  1. what is jra

  2. JRA? Does that mean junior rheumatoid arthritis?

If so, i have been tested for it and have taken medication for it however we later found out i don't have it.

If i'm on the right subject i'll edit with more information, i'm not sure if i am lol

Edit: Oh okay. I knew a few other people who suffered with it aswell. I assume you are seeing a rheaumatologist? I was put onto anti inflamitorys for the pain and to help with the flair ups of it, drugs such as naproxin and diclofenic. I was also given one medicine that had to disolve on my tongue.. I can't remember what it was called.. Is your son in a lot of pain with it? The thing that i found helped the most was steroid injections, they are a tempory form of pain relief but they are very good! They bring the inflammitory right down and help with pain, they last about 4 months. I hope this is some help, i went through rheaumatology for a year, even though i have an orthopedic problem so i've had my fair share of prodding with needles lol! Has your son had MRI scans?

Your very welcome to email me if you have any direct questions, i can try and help.
