My son was sent home from school yesterday with a sore throat and a fever, this am he still has both. He can eat just fine and his throat isn't red, but I just wasn't sure if I should take him to the dr. or not. I do have an appt. set. He has no other cold like symptoms, do you think it could just be a virus or something more?

  1. If it were my child, I would call the pediatrician's office and ask them what I should do.

  2. If he has no other cold like symptoms, then it could be strep.  However, it's generally pretty darn painful and the throat would look red.  You'll probably feel better if you take him in and let them do a strep test just to rule that out.  Good luck.

  3. If his fever hasn't come down with Panadol etc. then keep the doctors appointment.  I always think it's better to be safe than sorry.  When it comes to my daughter I have always checked with a doctor when I am not sure.

  4. Could be strep throat or could be a virus.  Strep left unattended to can affect the heart, amongst other things.  Get him checked out by a doctor, it can only set your mind at ease and be sure he's getting the right care that he needs.

  5. I would keep the appointment and definately take him it could be nothing or it could be a virus.  Only the doctor can tell you exactly what it is and if they are able to give him anything for it.  Hope he feels better

  6. If he has white puss pockets or white "stuff" around the tonsil area behind the "hangy ball thing". Then more than likley it is strep. If not I might just have him checked any ways because it is very contagious especially to babies and the elderly. Try giving hin Motrin and Chicken noodle soup. after an hour take the temp again if it hasn't gone down then its worth a trip to the doc's

  7. I would say that better to be safe then sorry and have him check out by a doctor because it sounds like he might have strep throat.

  8. Its not a virus, maybe it just a minor deseas infection. I hope ur son will recover soon.

  9. My son was the same too,not quite as high,Im guessing its hayfever as its so warm,he has stuffy nose too, took him to the chemist and they recommended an anti histamine, but with his temp so high id go to the gp.Good luck.

  10. Mátt, that is simply unhelpful - it's obviously fahrenheit: I'm surprised you don't spend all your time trolling through questions saying things like "that doesn't make sense in degrees kelvin!".

As for the question: Your son is sick. Take him to a doctor!

  11. Well if your looking for a percription or medical advice - this isnt a doctors surgery. I know where i would be if my son had a temp of 101!

  12. I would watch the fever, and see if this throat is still sore, it might just be a virus, but it could also be strep. Feel his neck, does his glads feel swollen? it might just be starting, wait a day or so, see how it goes, if he ain't getting better bring him to the doctor. I am a nurse, and I never bring my children right away I wait a day or so, to see what is going on, I just had the same thing with my 7 yrs old. After two days he was fine agian

  13. It may be a minor case of step.  If thats the case he needs to go to the doctor and get on meds.  Or it could be a little virus.  You can wait it out another day and just keep him home.  See how he feels in the morning!

  14. hmmm weell the temperature is impossible  if it is degrees celcius but in farenheigt it is possible please specify which!

  15. Take him to the walkin clinic or to your Dr, Why are you asking the people here? For the amount of time it took you to type this you could of got a appt for him MOM.........
