  1. Heres a good article.

    http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Book...

Gives you ideas on activities to have him do to keep him busy and focused, rather than drugging him up etc...

  2. morphine

  3. May I very gently ask you to reflect: do you want him to calm down for his sake, or for yours?

Some people are just more hyper. I have a high-energy kid who was an exhausting baby but it works cause I'm a high energy person too.

Maybe you need to take better care of yourself, get more rest, do fun things you enjoy. I'm not judging, but we mums do forget to take care of ourselves sometimes! Maybe you can wind up your energy levels to feel more in phase with your boys.

  4. Consider that just because something is "natural" doesn't mean it's good for you, especially for a young kid.  (Arsenic is "natural".....)  Be really careful because herbal remedies don't undergo any testing and can be unsafe for kids.

The best cure for a really energetic kid is a really large percentage of outdoor time.  Even with a regular kid, I aim to get them outside for a couple hours a day ... with a kid like that, I'd try for even more.  If you live somewhere where that's not really an option, find him as many strenuous activities (soccer, swimming, etc.) as possible.  Getting enough sleep can make a big difference, too.

Boundless energy is a good thing ... I wish I had it! You just need to find productive things for him to spend it on.  Maybe he'll become a bike racer or marathon runner or something!

edit -- just in support of the exercise/ outdoor time ... I've just read two books discussing studies that being outdoors and/or getting lots of exercise can help with ADD.  Check out "Last Child in the Woods" (for studies that time in nature can help with ADD) and "Spark" (can't remember the exact subtitle.... somethign like the Revolutionary Science of Exercise and the Brain" -- for studies about exercise's effect on ADD)

  5. let him like what he is........he is a kid.....dont bother .....its upto some age of 10 or 12 ....after that he comes to know about him...

  6. marijuana make him some pot brownies or something it wont promote smoking and he`ll def chill out

  7. Do NOT give your child herbal remedies/natural supplements/etc. They aren't tested by the FDA, they usually have no beneficial effects whatsoever, and they can pose a health risk *especially* to children. And for the record, drugs, contrary to popular belief, are safer than herbal remedies. Why? Herbal remedies are shoved out onto store shelves by people who decided that they do something. No research whatsoever. Drugs, on the other hand, are intensively researched for both efficacy and safety (usually for 10+ years prior to release on the market) not only before being sold but continually thereafter. Just because something is "natural" doesn't mean it's safe.

If you want a "natural" solution for your son's energy make sure he gets plenty of outdoor play. Limit his sugar and caffeine consumption as well.

  8. Have you had him tested for ADHD? You know, my son was a ball  of fire his whole life and I felt it was age appropriate but at 10 he began to really disrupt his peers in school and his teachers didn't hold back on thier comments of his hyperactivity. I had him tested and sure enough he has ADHD  and is now taking a medicine. I hated to admit it. AAnd hated the though of medicating him. But 6 months later his teachers (and myself) say he is night and day ,his grades came up he is well liked by his teachers and is getting along better with his sister. He says he cant believe how much better he can pay attention! Believe me when I say I HATED to admit that anything was wrng with my child to me he was perfect in every way noew he is just calmer but still perfect!!

  9. Try to remove red dye #40 out of his diet. Also limiting sugar will help.Make sure he has time and a place to run off that energy.Maybe get him in activitys or in a gym or something

  10. i use chamomilla drops on my unbelievably miserable 8 month old, they are meant to be calming so may have a similar effect on hyperactivity. they are by weleda and i get them from a health food shop but you can buy them in boots in the tablet form, he wont need to swallow them as they dissolve under the tongue and taste like sugar so you shouldnt have a problem getting him to take them!
