  1. say no and smack his hand.

  2. When you catch him tell him to stop. Have him wash his hands regularly. If he still won't stop, use this method. It works but some might think it is kind of harsh. Paint some clear nail polish on the tip of each of his fingers and before it is dry sprinkle some cayenne pepper on the nail varnish. When it dries it will stay there, and when he picks his nose it will burn a little bit. Keep doing this for a week or two and he will kick the habit.

  3. Tell him to stop!  It's nasty and unsanitary and you won't tolerate it.  Good Luck!

  4. NOT A BIG DEAL! First off BOYS pick noses, f**t, and smell It's just how boys are...I have three and love every stinkin (nasty) minuet of it! I realized a loong time ago to pick your battles wisely. I would just encourage him not to eat the boogies!

  5. idk, maybe tape up 2 fingers together, so he cant fit it up there.

  6. He's a child....it's only natural, you can tell him it's not something good to do in public, but he's a kid, people don't care, he'll stop with age.

  7. Every kid picks their nose!!!!!!

It aint a habit, its easier for them than a tissue because their nostrils are smaller!

  8. What do I suggest parents do with the child who repetitively picks at his or her nose?

o Don't call attention to the behavior.

o Focus your attention on the child, not the habit.

o When you see the behavior, get down to the child's level, look right at the child, lovingly put your hands on the child's shoulders and in a quiet voice say, "Josh, people don't like to see nose-picking. If you must pick your nose, do it in private." This is very different from. "Josh, how many times do I have to tell you to get out of your nose. You've developed a filthy habit!" When you do it right, you are focusing on the child (not the habit), speaking to the child privately (not ridiculing the child in front of others), teaching the child that nose-picking is undesirable (without implying that the child is filthy), and giving the child a way of dealing with nose-picking in a grown-up way by going out of the room.

o You will probably have to remind your child many times before it "clicks", but each time focus on the child not on the nose.

o Because crusted mucus in the nose is annoying, when the child has a cold, try to keep crusting at a minimum. Humidifiers may help a little bit. You can also try a tiny amount of Vaseline on your pinky and gently rim the edge of each nostril.

We all have a responsibility to socialize our children so that they are acceptable to the society in which they live. The challenge is to do it in such a way as to promote self-esteem which in itself relieves tension which in turn can diminish the need for tensional outlets.

I also wanted to add...PLEASE DON'T PUT PEPPER ON YOUR CHILDS FINGER.  I CUT  PEPPERS UP ONE DAY, WASHED HANDS, WENT A FEW HOURS AND HAD AN ITCH IN MY NOSE AND SCRATCHED IT AND IT WAS ON FIRE.  It hurts very bad and nothing but time...seemed like forever, made it stop burning.

  9. that may be kinda hard.there are still some adults who do it. i am not an exception.

  10. Tell him it's unsanitary and have him wash his hands.  EVERYTIME.  Eventually he'll get tired of having his play time interrupted so often.

Give him the option of cleaning his nose w/ a tissue in the bathroom, and washing his hands afterward.

  11. I'd like to say "Eeew thats nasty" but I do it and I'm a teenager so...

tell him its a private thing only. Tell him not to do it in public. Go to town when he's in his bedroom alone though cuz nobody has to know.

Its not really a big deal, just tell him to wiat until he's alone to do it. He may grow out of it eventually, he may not. but its his choice and not really that gross.

  12. I don't think there is a cure for that...I also suffer from this bad habit...but luckily I have gotten to where i don't do it in public

EDIT: lol I knew I'd be getting thumbs down...but hey, I told the truth
