That is much too young to do anything with her hair! It will not help her, and though she may beg you and cry and throw a tantrum, do not let her. She will thank you in the future because it will damage her hair and later on, her natural hair will be ugly.

I have done a child at that age... it was like a dozen little pieces with about a dozen hairs in each piece... all on the top layer...  her hair was really blond to start with... it was done in such a subtle way that you would have thought it wasn't natural... was just a kiss from the sun... very natural... I do consider my customers request and I would have drawn the line and would not do a full color service on a child.

Some deciding factors it was summer time... they were doing a mother daughter portrait and wanted the child's hair a little brighter... didn't change the color to where it had to be retouched... I can stress enough how subtle it was... hope this helped:-))).

I think that 8 years of age is too young for highlights. If you let her have them it'll send the message that she can do whatever she wants. Soon enough she will have a nose piercing and a tattoo.

This is really young. Tell her she can get highlights around 11 or 12.

all my friends parents said they could get highlights when they hit double digits (10 years old)

i dunno why, but my mom is the complete opposite of most parents. one day she asked me "hey honey? when we go get your hair trimmed do you want to dye your hair? oooh!! purple highlights!! yea! lets do that!"

(i didnt do it of course. it wouldnt match me)

Not at all! I had higlights when i was that age. It didnt do any harm to my hair and it looked good!
