My 8 yr old has had 3 major b.m.'s in the last few months and they were laxative induced. she leaks at times

she leaks in her undergarments but says she doesn't know she's going to before it happens. Is this serious? She has felt so bad the entire summer and has had no energy. Please help. I'm a stressed mother and even her doctor hasn't been much help.

My daughter has had the same problem and her doctor said she actually was so bound up with old stool that the "leaks" were the only stool that could get around the bound up stool stuck in her. Hers was caused by withholding BM's when at her Dad's house when she was little because she only wanted to go in a diaper and he wouldn't let her so she just didn't go. Anyway, our doctor had me give her 4-6 children's enemas until she was completely cleaned out and now she takes Miralax every other day or she leaks or is miserable and is never hungry because she is so full already. The hardest part for us is & was and is taking the medicine everyday. Once things are going good and she is having regular BM's  we find that if we make sure she takes about 1/2 dose every other day she is fine. My daughter is 10 now & is still having issues from her situation at Dad's when she was 2-4 years old. I do think it is serious and the old stool bound up in her can make her feel terrible and can eventually become toxic to her. The e***a's wont hurt her and you may be surprised as to just how much she has in her, I know I was.

if your child hasnt pooped in the last few months than u should change her diet n make her eat more veggies.maybe there's somthing wrong with her digestive system.now the whole leaking thing i'm not so sure.

Does she eat alot of fiber??Have u checked to make sure she didnt get into any medicine??Maybe u should change her fiber diet if shes getting too much...try switching doctors....

my niece is like your kid,shes 8 now and she had stop last summer..we always convinced her not to leak. but she cant help it. what we do is, she sleep at our house for about two weeks..at first she always had wewee. but on the 2nd week she can controls it!.. why?.. because my daughter is not getting wewee when she was 2. we think that shes shy with my daughter because shes older and yet making leaks pa!.. then when she got home, her mother called me that shes not making leaks na anymore!..i dont think if this will help you. but, this is what we did..hope this will!

of course this is serious we could go in two different directions 1st medical--there are so many viruses going around and the lack of energy shows something is wrong. 2cnd family--talk to her to see if something is wrong or if someone has hurt her. it sounds like your 8 year old is asking for help.
