My daughter will be 10 in november and she has been having small breakouts for about a year. She has just returned from her summer break and is starting to breakout again. What can I allow her to use that will work and be gentle at the same time.

  1. Clearasil acne cleansing wipes.

  2. Proactive is the best thing in the world. It truely works instantly!

Or a cheaper product thats the same thing would be Acne Free.

You can find it in any drug store.

I hope it works out well for ya.

  3. Don't use Proactive. It ruins the skin, especially a girl at that age.

I suggest just buying a cleanser, such as Clean and Clear. It's normal for her age, so it shouldn't be something out of the ordinary.

If she keeps her face clean, and makes healthy food choices, than it'll settle down eventually.

  4. Take her to the doctor and get a referral to a dermatologist. Young skin is so sensitive and a lot of the products can make it worse. It is worth the cost in my opinion. They probably can recommend a store product but one that is right for her skin type. I am by no means rich but would spend the extra money to get a dermatologist opinion vs. spending a lot of money on products that may or may not work and may damage the skin.

My daughter is 9.5 and in puberty as well and we are just using Noxema for a wash. But if she ever breaks out I will take her in. Our skin is very sensitive and I have had horrible reactions to a lot of the stuff out there. And ended up having to see a dermatologist to get it cleared up. It would have been a lot better for my skin to go there in the first place.

  5. wow 9 and a half. but dont worry shes probabaly jsut going through puberty at an earlier age compared to most kids her age.

try using proactive, although they only seem to work for some people. you can try and get your moneyy back guarantee if it doesnt work out for you. also, neutrogena face wash products are good too

    goodluck with everything !

  6. There is no quick fix for acne.  Your doctor may recommend some prescription medication.  Keep your face very clean.  Drink plenty of water.  Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep.  Try to reduce the stress in your life.  Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.   Here are a few informative links with additional home treatment ideas.

  7. JUST TAKE HER TO THE DERMINTOLOIST

  8. Please don't use Proactive unless you are absolutely sure that your daughter is not either allergic or she has skin made of leather.  I have a niece who used Proactive and her face peeled horribly, rather than acne she was left with scabs all over her face because Proactive acts like a mild acid and burns the skin.  I suggest she uses a mild cleansing scrub and soak a cotton ball with witch hazel then dab it on her face.

  9. Go with Acne Free (available at walmart, for sure).

or Pro Active (available on line, google it).

A clay based facial used once or twice a week is also very helpful for controlling oil and deep cleaning.

Many of the off the shelf treatments aimed at teen are very harsh and strip the skin which INCREASES break outs.

If you are still unsure talk to a dermatologist.

  10. try clean & clear clear skin body wash she can use wherever her breakouts are
