I said it's ok as long we don't have people over. His grandma says I need to forbid it.

you can KIND OF see his p***s when he sits down.. it doesnt bother me.

i think its okay as long as there are not any visitors, i used to walk around totallynaked at that age.

It really depends on how YOU feel about it, and like you said, whether people are over.  If his grandma is around, then yes, I would forbid it because she isn't comfortable with it.  If it were me, I would ask him to at least put boxer shorts on, but in this situation I think it is up to your family and how you guys feel about it.

My significant other walks around the house completely nude and he's way older than 9. It's a guy thing. As long as he's not showing off his stuff to visitors and neighbors, let him wear what he wants. The only time I would really restrict it is during times when you're going to be eating dinner or having family time.

If you're okay with it, then it's fine.  It wouldn't work in my house because my son thinks his p***s is some kind of handy attached toy and he'd be messing with it all the time!

At age 9 he should be gaining a sense of privacy or boundaries which will vary depending on the social setting.  Family are obviously less restricted than friends or strangers.  It appears Grandma is not happy about him being so open, so its only respectful to her to cover up a little more.  Your son will learn to gage what and when something is appropriate or not.

He should also be aware that his p***s does peek through slightly and other people can see it.  As long as he's aware of it he can decide his level of modesty.  If he really likes the freedom but wants a little more cover, I like the suggestion of boxers.  It may provide the same level of freedom without flashing Grandma.

Tell Grandma to have a glass of wine and relax. The kid will be fine. Males like to be naked. Not talking sexual, we just like to be naked. Then again you never know when someone will pop in. On a more serious note though he would be better off if he were supporting his privates or they could begin to hurt. Been there done that.

Unless he is getting signs of puberty I think this is fine.  I was still running around like that when I was 9.  My daughter it almost 8 and she still runs around in just a shirt or in just underwear.  I think that nudity in this country is blown way out of proportion and shouldn't be that much of an issue, as long as the children's bodies are being respected.  This is a family issue that should remain inside of the family.

Wrong!, he should have dignity and respect at that age to cover up. He is not a toddler. His Grandma is right - listen to her.

If you are fine with it and he's not shaking his groove thang in front of the window (where neighbors can see) nor visitors in the house, then let him go for it.
