  1. Local business and organizations like the Odd Fellows are your best bets here.  Even other karate schools might be interested.  I sponsored a local jujitsu kid once, even though he was from a competing school.

Also, martial arts suppliers might be good choices.  Century Martial Arts sponsors some competitors I think.

Also, depends on what organizations you are competing with.  Are you in North America or Europe?  If in Europe, try the WTKA, they have their big championship (and I mean BIG 2000+ competitors and over 25 countries represented) in Italy this year, so the trip wouldn't be too expensive.  They call the tournament the Maraton of Martial Arts, and they hold it over four days in Marina Di Cararra (on the coast, north of Pisa.)

A woman at my school found some $1000USD in sponsors for her 9 year old daughter last year, and she took home multiple national and world titles.

    Good luck!

  2. her instructor should be able to get her into that kind of thing :) ask him, my previous instructor was  6 time world champion :D (i miss him -.-) he got a lot of his student into compatitions

  3. Her Sensei should be able to help you with this.

When you go to tournaments, you should see signage and things of sponsors, those are the types of people who sponsor.

    You really have to ask.

  4. Have her win some major national tournaments first so she can get seen. She should be a black belt since the majority of sponsors do not sponsor under belts.

Most sponsors don't like to sponsor children because they know they also have to pay for a guardian for all of the trips. Approach some of the current sponsored teams. Sponsors generally don't select one individual, but instead build up a team to sponsor.

  5. You should check out the North American Sport Karate Circuit (NASKA) which has both national and international competitions or tournaments.  Such events draw three to four thousand competitors and you will find some adult black belts that are sponsored or on competition teams-both national competition teams as well as privately sponsored teams like the John Paul Mitchell team.  Unfortunately most children don't get any sponsorship but sometimes a martial arts company would pick up things like travel costs for a young competitor if they were that good and use them and their photo for advertising and promotional purposes.  It was not unusual for parents or a competitor to spend several thousand dollars per year for their child to compete on the circuit if they were a serious competitor and children are not awarded prize money per say like adult black belts are.  Many of them would have small schools and classes back home and then write those expenses off on their taxes.  You might be able to make contact with some of these people and they can give you some ideas.   One problem that you will encounter is that martial arts and martial arts competition is not nearly as organized in Europe as it is in North America.

  6. When I played softball, we would get local businesses to sponsor our team.  There was a CPA that made major donations every year!  You really have to ask around.  Most businesses will make a donation from $100 to $1000, if you are lucky you might get more.  A good idea if they do sponsor, send them framed pictures for thank you gifts or even a plaque.  Good luck!

  7. big deal, i bet i could still take her

  8. my brother did the same thing about 2 years ago and it was really successful. First you have to visit or talk to your council to ask them permission - in order to make sure it's legal and that they can support what your doing. Then go around your area and ask people to sign a trusworthy sponsorship form - im sure it will turn out successfully. Good Luck to yourself and your daughter!

  9. I know that these guys sponsor people but you will have to e-mail them about your requirements, good luck!
