My 9 year old signed his passport with his nickname, not the name shown on the passport.?

Will we have a problem getting thru customs?

Just have him rewrite his full name above, next to, or under the nick name.  Everything should be just fine.

I would call the passport hotline,  1-877-4USA-PPT, and ask someone who can give you official advice. I would hate for your whole family to get stuck somewhere or not be able to go on a trip because of this. This may not even be a problem. They may just tell you to have him sign his real name beside it. To be safe, call the toll free number. You may have to stay on hold for a while, but I think it would be worth it.
