For about 1 week my son had what looked like a infected pimple on his back. I took him to a urgent care center and they told me it looked like MRSA and gave me a antibiotic and to follow up with our dr. Some of the things they said that could happen really had us scaried.

  1. Make sure you watch him closely. I was unfortunate enough to have an MRSA on the back of my leg and it hung on for about three months, coming back in cycles.  For a young child this is potentially a fatal infection.  Watch for recurrences!!!

  2. MRSA is a pretty agressive staph infection, and very resistant; it originally started in hospitals, but it's starting to spread out. Uncontrolled, it can be fatal, but it's good that it was caught before it got bad, with agressive antibiotic treatment it can be controlled.

It's even scarier because it would sometimes look like a spider bite, and could be misdiagnosed.

  3. An MRSA lesion can be dangerous, even fatal, so definitely follow their advice.

  4. Why not post this in the health section?

  5. Really not sure how a lesion could "look" like MRSA... MRSA is a resistant strain of bacteria. Not really something one can "look" at.

Go to the doctor. Get it cultured. Worry about it when it's confirmed to be MRSA. And even then, there's lots that can be done. It's "resistant" not "unkillable."

    Hang in there.
