This morning my truck wouldn't start all I would hear was a metallic click from the solenoid. Thinking since my battery was sort of old I swapped it for a new one, I also changed out the solenoid but it still wont start and I still hear the same click from the new solenoid. I haven't had any issues with the truck not starting before, I just parked the truck last night and this morning it wouldn't start. Could the alternator or starter give out even-though I didn't have any staring issues before, or could it be that I received a faulty solenoid and I should swap it out.....

  1. Have you tried jump leads from another vehicle? Did the extra current affect anything?

Can you push start the truck or try rocking it back and forth in gear? That could free a jammed starter.

It does sound like the starter motor might have seized or quit.

The hammer tapping is a good idea too; I forgot that.

  2. suspect starter or connection to starter-try tapping on starter with hammer while turning ignition over, sometime that works-if it was alternator the new battery would have at least started it.
