Question:

My 94 chevy cavalier will start fine when it is cool, but if you drive it and try to start it,no luck

it will start when it cools down again. it almost sounds like it creates a vapor lock until it cools down. i have changed out the thermo and the fuel filter put in new antifreeze please help

  1. Have your coil packs & wires tested and possible fuel pump. This condition is called thermal break down. Once heated up resistance builds up and either creates a open or what i call a dam.  All can be done with a ohm meter and wires should never be more than 15k ohms and coils you can get the specs from a cheap chiltons manual. fuel pump just rent a test from your local autoparts.                                                                                             As jnc has stated if it is turning over slowly it is possible you have a bad battery ,or starter. Same thermal break downs happen to.


  2. Mikee gave some good advice, but looking from a different direction.... have you tested the battery/ starter?? you didn't say if it does not crank or cranks slowly. Good luck
