I changed spark plugs, charged new batteries, drained old gas, and added new gas with some additives. It only gets three revs with the choke on and then dies out.

  1. If there was fuel in the float bowl for that entire year you have clogged pilot jets (possibly even clogged mains) and will need a thorough carb cleaning.

  2. take your carbs apart and clean them the jets are probably clogged

  3. I have the Suzuki S83( same as Intruder 1400) . I don`t know your answer to your problem but , I belong to Intruderalert.com a forum for Suzuki motorcycles . There are a lot of people on that forum that are very knowledgeable on the Intruder . I urge you to join that forum and post your question there .

  4. Sounds like  the carbs are  gummed up. Especially the Idle Circuits, that's why it won't idle. Time for a carb teardown and cleaning. I have heard good things about intruderalert.com, maybe You can get some advice there.

  5. check for a clogged air filter or exhaust

a little mouse might have made a home in the air filter, or in the exhaust pipe

  6. Try cleaning the carbs that could help.
