My 95 chevy blazer started to smoke allot n periodically turn off i can smell?

oil does that mean to much oil was put in n can it be drained thanks for the advise

  1. use dipstick..it sez low/full right on it...usually smell/smoke is from person changing oil spilling it on exhaust pipe.  or leaky valve covers.


  2. Check the oil.  Is it over the full mark?  If not, that isn't the problem.  Even if it was overfilled, the symptoms you are having wouldn't happen.

    More likely you have some major engine problem that is letting oil into the combustion chambers.  Have it looked at by your mechanic.

    Edit:  Oil leaking on your exhaust would not cause your car to turn off periodically.

  3. No, you have leaking oil on the exhaust. Rear main seal most likely on a 4.3L.
