We changed the started, checked the battery for corrosion, was told it was the starter relay but now we are told there is no such thing as starter relay. Where is the starter relay? Or what else can this be? The lights all work and come on. The car turned over when I accidentally touched the big prong and little prong on the starter.

  1. on gm cars the solenoid is on the starter.

  2. The relay for the starter is in the fusebox under the hood.

  3. There is an anti-theft relay that controls the starter on your car that is located behind the right hand side of the instrument panel above the instrument panel compartment. There could be an open in the wire leading to the small terminal on the starter, or a problem with the ignition switch which is buried in the steering column.
