My 98 Harley Wide Glide oil light came on yesterday and im hearing a tapping. Been sitting a while. Oil Pump?

no not the oil pump. try a oil change and new spark plugs if that don't work take it to a mechanic

Check the oil level.  If too low, that could certainly be the problem and if too high, see if the oil smells like gasoline.  If a carb float sticks open, it can run gas into the crankcase, which thins down the oil.

check your sight glass or dipstick if you are low on oil it will not pump up to the top of the engine if you have full oil then yes it is oil pump

Change the oil ASAP.  Don't run it first, do it cold.  Use Syn3 or Mobil 1 15w50.  If you still see an oil light after 20 seconds, shut it down and tow it to HD.  Do not rev the engine until the light goes out. Good luck.
