I have a 2004 Pontiac Montana and the ABS warning light stays on, I have not noticed any problem when braking I just need to know if I should rush it in or if it can wait.

  1. Theres' probably a glitch some where they might be on & you don't know it.

  2. Hmmm Do you need to worry?  Only if you have to make an emergency stop.  When there is a malfunction in the ABS system, the light comes on to tell you, and the ABS is disabled.  It is something to get fixed in the near future, but it won't cause any problems if you can't get it done right away.

  3. It just means that the ABS feature on the car isn't working properly     (like a computer malfunction, I think that's what they said in my drivers ed class.) But no you don't have to take it in immediately but it would be a good thing to take your car in whenever you can..I would also check your owners manual, it might be different for some cars but in my drivers ed class they said it just means they aren't working. You should be able to brake normally without the ABS, but I you can't I would definitely take your car in.

  4. You should go get it checked when you have some free time or when you go do errands.  Your braking system should still work properly except for the abs itself.  which pretty much presses and releases the brake when you slam on the brakes so you will be able to steer easier.  it is important but i wouldnt call it life or death since older cars don't have abs at all and they're still on the road.
