  1. I just had this problem a month ago . I had to leave the unit off over night. I changed the filter and replace the damaged insulation on the coper lines that go to the condenser (the one that had ice on them)  Ever since then no problems. Good luck.

  2. check your fan to the furnace. more then likely your circulating fan on your furnace isn't working. that's why there is ice forming on your freon lines. after a while your whole air conditioning unit will freeze up and not work until it thaws again. and that's not good for the unit.

  3. Change the air filter and clean the inside coils with non rinse formula coil cleaner. Air has to be moving constantly in order for the freon to remove the heat from inside to the outside. When the coils are clogged the freon will pool up, liquefy and freeze any water on the coils. The trash, hair dirt, and dust covering the coil will help the water forming over it to ice quickly. The ice will slab over and completely block any cooling effort the unit is trying to accomplish. Foaming coil cleaner pulls out the nastiness from deep within the coil. It is best to remove as much of the slimey buildup as possible before using the spray to get the best results. 4. service your freon level cauz too much or not enough will both cauz the unit to freeze

  5. Turn it "OFF".

    Change air filter.

Turn it back "ON" in 4-5 hours.

If still does not work, call tech.

  6. First Check you Filter and also go check your outside fan it should be clean around if not you will need to pour some acid or water works sometimes to remove all dirt.

  7. turn it off let it de-ice and call a repair man
