  1. could be simple or complicated

  2. Is the fan set on auto or set to on?  That makes a difference.  It should be on auto.  If it is set to auto, call HVAC and have someone come and look at it.  It's going to drive your electric bill out of this world.

  3. It could be.Check it's accuracy with a thermometer.See if the fan and the compressor will cycle when turned off or on.Just don't short cycle the compressor ! Good luck.

  4. If you go out to your compressor you will see two low voltage wires

connected to two wires on the unit. You can disconnect one of these

wires, and if the unit shuts off it is probably the t stat. If it keeps

running, then the contactor in the unit is sticking and needs to be

replaced. If you find the contactor it has a number on it and can be

purchased from a hvac dealer. It is simple to change, usually only

two screws holding it in. Make sure to shut off power to the unit,

usually there is a disconnect nearby, and land the wires the same

as they came off. You can contact me if you need any more help.

  5. Have you checked to see if the fan switch is on auto or on. If on then the fan blows continuosly-on auto it shuts off when the ac reaches the temperature you set your thermostat at.

If it's not that then have you changed to a higher temperature to see if that stops it. Some thermostats have batteries also.
