Hi, , my AC stopped working yesterday. I noticed there is water under my basement carpert too.... There is a wall that divided the unit from the den..

BUT...

There is no water in the actual unit that I CAN SEE!!

I used a wet vac and I picked up lots of water around the unit, but I cant see it, only dapness around it..

I can hear the unit on, it sounds like its running but no air is coming out..

Pleased help, what can I do?

Thanks so much :)

  1. First, your condensate line may be clogged.  This will be a drain from the unit, usually 1/2 in pipe.  Make sure your filter is clean, and check the inside unit for icing.  Unit may be low on freon.  Have a HVAC tech check it.

  2. i would suggest you check and change your air filter. a dirty air filter prevents air flow across your indoor coil. the coil ices over and when the inefficient unit shuts off, the ice melts and you get a wet carpet. over time the unit just quits cooling. check and change your filter and see if that solves problem. GL with it!

you should change the air filter once a month if you are using the cheapo blue fiberglass ones.

  3. Air exchanger open it. When it does not do call to re pare.
