I had thought it maybe the mode I recorded in, ie SLP or EP, but that has made no difference! It seems to be my player, since my home recorded dvds play fine in my computer, yet why does my friends home recorded dvds play fine in the player?

  1. The only thing I could guess is the laser in yours must be just slightly off causing it not to record right, or it might need a good cleaning.

Buy a cd/dvd cleaner and run it through once or twice and then try again. If the laser is off alignment the disc will not help and your gonna have to take it in.

  2. Hi Tonibasilbrush,

You might try a +R if your unit will work with it.

A +R DVD is slightly better at error handling so more tolerant of dirty or damaged media and also more tolerant to the subtle differences between players.
