My Acer (Aspire 4310 notebook) turns on with a black screen.?

This has happened twice to me now. I had to restart my notebook. When I turned it on, however, it's like my notebook is on, but my screen stays black. The black you see when the notebook is turned off. Standby, perhaps? I've no idea, but it's very frustrating.

look to see if your power button is blinking amber, that means its in standby mode. If it is just hit the power button and it should come on.

Is it happening when you close the lid?
