Hi, I just got an Acer x1200 a week ago. It was working fine, and then i turned it on 2 days ago and the internet wasn't working and i wasn't connected to a network. So, I made sure the router was fine, and also accessed the internet from a laptop (wireless). Everything else connected to the router (Netgear something) works fine, including the phone and other computers. I even restored the Acer. restarted everything, and tried using a different ethernet cable, but that didn't solve the problem. I really don't know what else to do, except maybe return it, but its such a shame because i really liked the computer. Thanks for the help.

  1. I have the same problem with the same machine, although it happened within an hour of getting it set up.

I was doing windows updates and everything fine, and then after I uninstalled Mcafee, it just stopped working.  I figured it might have been that, so I did a system restore as well, with no luck.

If I dont get  an answer from Acer support by the time my son gets back from daycamp, it's going back to the store for an exchange.

UPDATE!  Acer wants me to pay to ship it to them, so I took it back to the store instead... only to get one that dosent even power up.  Best part, Circut City wont give me a full refund because I opened it...  it's DEFECTIVE, not 'wrong'  Hope you didnt get yours there.

  2. If you already restored it and it still won't recognize the ethernet cable, there's probably something wrong with your network card. That's a hardware problem and should be covered by warranty. You'll have to take it back, unfortunately.

  3. I don't think you will have to return it..... Try to go to Control Panel and then click on Hardware.  Install the hardware.  Possibly talk to a specialist at the subject.
