  1. if he's still young, don't act scared when you put your hand in the cage.  that's why he bites.  If he's older, well, he's always going to be a biter.

  2. You need to train it to be used to people. This will take time, but its worth it.  If you wanna no how to train him, just email me.

    Hope this helps!

  3. I have one too and he used to bite. He will bite if he's scared or sometimes if he's frustrated. I just talk to him in a soft tone to assure him. Greys are like kids. You need to let him know that you are the boss as well. Let him know that he has done wrong  in a firm tone but not yelling. Slowly he will get it. To punish my bird he gets no treats for the day like carrots. Did you know that greys are considered the smartest birds of the parrot family. You can get a book at a pet store about them.

  4. Greys are very very shy birds, they are scared of everything new.

You and everything around him is new and scarey. His cage is his only place he can call his own. He bites because he is defending his home.

    1. Do not force yourself on him at all, let him take it at his own pace. I have one grey that took me 18 months to win him over.

    2. Find the one treat that he dearly loves, Say for example "Peanuts" (of course shelled and unsalted).

    3. Take all peanuts away from him, never never give him another peanut, unless it comes from your hand only, That is the only way he will get a peanut is from you.

    4. Never punish your bird in anyway, these guys have long memorys, and like you they remember bad things longer then good things.

    5. Everytime he see you give him a peanut, when you walk by his cage pop one in his mouth. He will very quickly learn that when he see you it is something good.

    6. Give him lots of time, I know of one bird that took almost two years to tame down..

    Good luck and have fun.

  5. Curl your hand and kinda act as if your hand was a....bird i guess, thats what i do to mine. If it says any words or makes a certain sound do that too. Like Emma (my bird) always says "ahhhhh" hahah, sooo you can try that. Also, try feeding some yummy snacks. :)

    GoodLuck

  6. Maybe he feels nervous and tense around you, because you don't feel relaxed enough.  African Greys can sense how people feel and then relate to that.
