My Air Conditioner starts and then the Compressor shuts down although the fan continues to run blowing hot air

You might be low on refrigerant or you may have a bad relay or capacitor.

Its short-cycling due to low refrigerant level.

Have it leak tested, evacuated then re-charged with refrigerant and compressor oil.

If its the outdoor unit fan blowing hot air I would think its probably a dirty outdoor coil causing the compressor to cut out on the thermal overload.

Shut the power off to the outdoor unit and wash the coil out with water.

If dirty enough the coil may require a coil cleaner to foam out the dirt.
