Question:

My Aloe Vera plant has mold in it's dirt.. WHY?

I have a pretty big Aloe Vera plant and I am always finding mold like chunks in the dirt.

So I transplanted the plant into a new pot with new soil and it just started again. I keep cleaning it out but it keeps coming back, it kinda looks like green mold building up at the surface of the dirt.

What is this and how do I get rid of it for good? Any plant experts out there?

  1. Too much water, how wet are you keeping the soil.  Do you have the propper soil?  Scotts makes a soil for cactuses and succulents that is very good with the drainage.

Also you may want to look into a chemical that can take care of the fungus, like something made by Bayer, or an Organic product made by Green Light

  2. Mold likes cool, damp air and darkness. Make sure your plant has a chance for the soil to dry between waterings and keep the plant in a sunnier location with good air circulation.

  3. keep the potted aloe in the sun and don't overwater.  you'd practically have to kill the plant to totally be rid of the mold
