  1. no don't waste your money. He wont be able to hold it long anyways. It is very normal for a baby to suck on their hands. Right now it is the most yummy thin there is, except for the food. Babies use their mouths to explore things and they will start with their hands first because those are ready and available and they cant drop them. just wait until he gets his feet.

Just let him be. You can encourage him with toys, that will help with his coordination and development, but don't discourage him from his hands. It wont work. :)

  2. That is perfectly normal behavior.  A teething ring would be fine if he likes it, but if he is sucking, not biting, on his hand then a pacifier might be more what he wants.

  3. You can do that if you want, but most likely he won't be too interested in the teething ring. I gave my 4mth old son a teething ring too because he kept sucking his hand and gnawing his fingers. He only took the teething ring for a while and then he'd spit it out.

I read in a book that babies learn things by putting it in their mouth. That's why they shove just about everything they can into their mouth. They'll bite it and suck on it for a while and then spit it out.

Eventually your son would need a teething ring, so it doesn't hurt to get him one now.

  4. Not being a parent I couldn't give a good answer, but it seems normal.

    Mimzy :)

  5. yes get him one, but don't worry about it, my nephew puts his hand in his drinks-say a glass of milk-and then sucks all the milk off his hand, and he's 6. lol

  6. Either;

    1) He's hungry, get him some milk!

    2) He wants something to suck, get him a pacifier!

    3) He's teething, get him a freezer teething ring!

If none of those work, just throw your hand up and let him suck his fist. =)

  7. I would get him a teether yeah,  if he has rosy cheeks and dribbles alot too, there are ones that you can buy that go in the freezer so they are cooler for there mouth! More satisfying!

  8. no need, his hand is perfectly fine and always availiable. let him suck away :) just make sure they are clean

  9. My son does the same thing and he is 4 1/2 months. He is starting to do it less and less. Its totally normal. My son has cut 2 teeth and 6 more are coming in....He may be teething and if he is try a teething ring or a Razbaby http://razbaby.com/RaZ-Berry-Teether.htm... . Some people say its a sign of hunger but for my son it wasn't.

  10. Maybe you should. It will be easier and more comfortable for him that way, and probably less painful. :)

  11. yeah - cant hurt - a pacifier might help too.  Nothing is wrong with letting him do it, probably just self soothing

  12. no, there is no need.

  13. I bet even if you do, he wont be interested...my son didnt care for holding a teething ring then. And still doesnt, a wet face cloth from the fridge is good though. ;)

  14. All babies do that.. but you could get him a teething ring just so he can learn how to use it for when his teeth starts to come out

  15. oh, i miss those sweet days.  my son did this for comfort and to let me know he was hungry.  if it bothers you, you can try a teething ring, but he'll probably quit on his own soon enough.

  16. yes. But it is normal for a child to do this. Its a stage Mostly all children go though.
