There are little tiny scales left on my snake in some places its only one scale in others places its patches only 10 scales at most. The scales are the ones along his back. I would just like to know how I can get these scales off, or do I need to wait till next shed? Do I need to soak my snake in water to help? I just need some tips so next time it is more smooth such as where I can get a rock or where I can buy a spray bottle to make it more humid. Thank you for your time and help!!

  1. mine had the same problem. i know your not supposed to help them peel it off but he had so much left and did not mind my helping. maybe this will work but i dont know since your really not supposed to do it.

  2. Try letting your snake slither through a wet towel(warm water) a few times, or soak him in warm water if he'll tolerate it. It's really not a big deal, just don't try to peel them off.

You can get a reptile rock and spray bottle from any pet store really, Petsmart or Petco would both have those things. You can also bring in rocks from outside but you'd have to bake them to get rid of bacteria first, and you could get just a plain squirt bottle from a store like Walmart.

  3. Put a bowl of water in the vivarium, such as a ceramic dog bowl, which is big enough for your snake to fit in it. Snakes love to lie in warm water and it would not suprise me if your snake decided to cool off in there. It will help keep up the humidity in the tank and also help soften those last few stubborn scales which will loosen and drop off without any discomfort.

  4. A large water bowl will help a little with the humidity. A warm, damp towel is also an excellent idea. I'm glad you know not to pick at it! You can get a pet-safe rock at a pet store, and an empty spray bottle from a pet store, plant store, or even WalMart. Just be sure the bottle has never been used to store chemicals.

  5. look at that video on shedding it will give you advice on what to do:
