Question:

My Ball Pythons Eyes are grey?

I got a ball python in May. He has not eaten, and the pet shop employee said it is ok. He just shed two weeks ago, Is it normal to shed again so soon? Do you have any tips to persuade him to start eating? Is it also normal when the eyes are gray for the snake to seem blind?

  1. His eyes are probably grey because he didn't shed his eye caps during his shedding. Try soaking a pillow case with warm water and put him in there and close it. The moisture from the pillow case will soften up his skin and he will move around and hopefully loosen up the eye cap and it will come off.

As for food, I would go out and get yourself some live food. Sometimes when a snake is adjusting to a new home he doesn't want to eat, and offering live food with stimulate him. I would also raise the temperature in the tank as heat will also stimulate his appetite.

Keep trying, you'll get there. Good luck.

  2. Well his eyes are grey because of the eye caps, since he probably didn't shed it off during the shedding process. Just soak him or put him in a pillowcase for a while and hopefully he would be able to get it off of him.

But I don't think he should be shedding so soon though.

But as for eating, what are you feeding him? Frozen/thawed or live?

If it is frozen/thawed(as much as I really hope it is) then you should try dangling it in front of him with tongs to encourge him to eat because it would look like it is live. Also to thawed out the feeder very well. And if you it live =[ then I really don't know, what to do with that. **Also if you are feeding frozen/thawed then maybe(as much as I hate this) try pre-kill...though it is better then live. Pre-kill is when you buy a live feeder and you kill it just a few mins. before you feed him the mouse.

Hope this could help you! And feel free to email me if you have anything else =]
