My Bedroom is Pink! Help? Accessories?

I'm having a bit of trouble choosing items to put in my room. I chose the room color without knowing how it would look like and now I'm stuck with it. My room is kinda big so the color looks a bit dark. The color is pink and i thought it was a nice pink but it turned out to look like a Pepto Bismol kinda pink and its making me sick. What kind of accessories should i put in my room to make it look lighter but still stylish? There is also a lot of wood in my room (not white wood) and my flooring is also wood but a little lighter than the furniture. I can choose bedding and accessories, I just can't change the dresser and desks .. which are wood. Please help <3

  1. I would choose white bedding and accessories, if you want things to lighten up. I think most shades of purple look good with pink, some people think light green looks good with it. Mostly white would work, with some complementary shades like purple or green thrown in. Plants really liven a room up, and mirrors make a room look bigger. Paintings or framed posters with pink would probably look nice. Try to think of the room as a girly pink, rather than medicine pink, and work around it.

  2. I'm so sorry about the paint color. It is so hard to pick a color because they rarely look the same on the wall as they do on that tiny swatch. Next time, Sherwin Williams sells little 'sample' containers that you can use to actually try the color on the wall before you buy a whole gallon. It saved me a ton because the blue I thought was perfect was way too bright and the one I thought was blah was perfect!

How about something like this? It has pink in it but different shades so it might take the focus off the walls.

I really like this one too with the dark brown and pink - but I would leave out the tan part. I don't think it really works (but if it matches your wood it might be nice)

Here's a third option. It's reversible so you'll have variety:

  3. You should use white as an accent color. Like get a fuzzy white rug to put next to your bed, a plain white comforter with lots of accent pillows in whatever colors youd like,a bulletin board, oh and those really cute floor lantersn they have at ikea they are also white. OR black instead of white.Just a thought.oh and you can hang fabric up on the walls from ceiling to floor it gives a very dramatic effect. goodluck!

  4. Well you could go with different shades of pink, baby right thru to hot pink.

you could use black to take the glare off the peptol bismol walls.

Or you could use pearls possibly with the black

Or how about purples and silver.

Go to your hardware stores and get those paint colour charts, that could show what matches.

Maybe put big pictures/mirrors up to erm hide the walls

  5. i have a pepto bismol pink room.

first of all, if you hate it, paint it over again now. life's too short.

what i did was i made sure i had crown molding, dado rail, and baseboards all painted shiny white. It pulled the room together and made it elegant. we made window treatments (cornices) out of wood and painted them same as the trim. these hid the yucky miniblinds.

then i painted more "junky" pieces of furniture shiny black with an oil based paint (do this outside).

i chose textured white and ecru bedding. it looks nice.

i defintitely would go stark black/stark white.
