My Betta is quite large and very young.

When I bought my Betta he was the same size as all the others.

I keep him in a 20 Litre tank with 2 small bottom feeders which he adores and plays with, and within weeks he grew more than double his size. He is very beautiful and impressive and I read somewhere that this means they're old. Well mine isn't old he's only 3 to 4 months old now, if that.

Every single person that has seen him has commented on how huge he is and how lively and playful he is.

Is his size normal and would he be able to breed?

  1. How big is he? Fully grown male bettas can reach about 3 inches, slightly smaller if it's a female. There are a species of bettas that can grow up to 8 inches, there simply called giant bettas. Most gaint bettas only grow to about 5-6 inches because they are bred with regular bettas.

  2. I dont know if it is normal, but he should still breed. If he goes to the top of the tank and makes a number of bubbles, that means that he wants to breed. Good Luck with him! Hope this helps!

  3. his size is normal which means your are feeding him good stuff and he might be able to breed in the betta breeding season but i'm not quite sure when the season
