My Birth Name and yours?

Mine is:

Aimi Fay Burrows

(Amy Faye Burrows)

My Grandma picked Amy, but my Mom liked unusual names like Kiera which my Dad hated, so they agreed upon Amy with a unusual spelling : Aimi ... turns out its Japanese!

As for Faye: I like it, its old fashioned and reminds me of that girl in 'Steps' but I like the history attached to me and its missing 'e'.. its my Grans middle name, and her godmothers surname.. thats why it has lost its 'e'

Burrows.. I originally had my Moms surname Fisher... but my Grans surname was Fisher.. Elizabeth Fay Fisher, Aimi Fay Fisher.. all too similar for my liking.. plus Fisher gets a lot of 'digs' at high school.. plus I was always a Daddys girl at heart so it got changed by deed poll to Burrows.

Brothers name:

Innes David Burrows

Innes: after a famous rangers player Derek McInnes, by my Mom as Dad had most of the influence on my name.

David: random middle name that my cousin has also.. kind of runs in the family.

Burrows: again he was Fisher but changed it at the same time as me.

Step brother:

Ciaran David Howie.

Ciaran: means little black boy in irish.. picked by his Dad .. my step dad.

David: after his Dad (Ross David)

Howie: just a surname.

I think we all have good names, not too unusual and not too odd either.

What do you think ??

And your names and thoughts on them???

No real reason, just wondering?

  1. kelsie: is off some tv show.. with a keley in it.. no not kelsey grammar..and then my older sister whos name ends in an 'ie' wanted my name to end in 'ie' so it happened.

marie: as in marie biscuit.. is my grandmothers name, and is also my mum middle name.. and i plan on giving this name to my daughter one day as a middle or first name.

and my last name is obviously my last name

  2. I am not going to give out my first name, but my middle name is Marie.  Something like five or six generations before my generation (and now the next) on my mother's side of the family have the middle name Marie.  I guess this takes out the guess work for me when it comes time for me to have a child, if it is a girl I have to name her something that sounds good with the middle name Marie.

Innes reminds me of the girls name Inez, which I don't like that much.   Aimi is cute, though I really don't like alternative spellings.  Ciaran is okay, but I do really like David.

Be careful putting out your full names on the internet.

Jennifer to common in the 70's, so she took Yvonne and gave me her

grandmas middle name as my middle name, so it is Yvonne Elizabeth.

I like it it's different pronounced yu- von not y- vone or e- von which is what I get called.

  10. My mother was 15 when she had me, clearly out of her mind i was born with 8 names. Yes, 8. I never actually shortened it by law, but obviously, i did.

I was born as: Maya Grace Olivia Paige Alexin Cate Isabella Cooper. - Believe it or not! I love ALL the names. I named my daughter:

    Sophia Autumn Maya Cooper.

Sophia was just because i liked it and while in spain when i was 19, and unknowingly pregnant, i met a woman named Sophia who palm read and told me i had some BIG news, but i didnt know it yet!

Autumn was the season she was born in.

Maya is my name! &I loved it too!

    SO yeah :D

  11. My name is Ava Cheyelle, but I go by Cheyelle.

  12. william ( after my dad ) macgregor ( as my middle name in honour of my grandfathers surname ) .

my mother was jean ( for no apparant reason ) mackie ( as her middle name again based on honour or her grandfather ) .

i am a scot and when ( probably generations ) took this " naming " slant ; i guess there was an element of pride and heritage --- i haven't lived in scotland for a long time and am out of touch as to whether this indeed a trend that continues .

    good luck .

  13. Those are very pretty family names you have and I love the history behind them.  My name is Allison Joy.  My parents could not decide which first name, my dad wanted Claudia and my mom wanted Adrian.  My dad said no to Adrian because there was a football player and he though it was too manly.  Claudia was shot down too, but I have a German surname so it would have been nice together.  My parents have both passed so my fiance and I are honoring them by using their names in our children's.  My mother's name is Barbara and my father's name is David, same as my fiance's father.  I would also like to pass on Joy as a middle name, it is also in my fiance's family.

  14. Emily

  15. Katie Helen Kirsty Keith

Katie: named after my aunt and great aunt.

    Helen: my dad's mum's name I think.

    Autumn:

  24. lucy oblivious ennit

  25. I have quite a common name...

    Sara Diane

and my brother is another common name...

  26. Your names are lovely - love the meaning behind them all as well. I actually prefer Fay without the extra e, but I do prefer Amy to Aimi - though the second one is very cool too!

My name is Sophy Frances Perce - just because they liked the names I guess! Sophy seemed slightly more uncommon than Sophie, but is actually still a very traditional spelling (parents are a big fan of those) just more unheard of. My sister is Laura Jane Ariadne Perce - she was christened Laura Jane but then when she was two my mum had a random phase of 'why didn't we give our daughter a more interesting name' which my dad didn't agree with so she legally added Ariadne as a middle name. Luckily she calmed down again before I was born! Laura's 3 month old daughter is named Isabelle Prairie. Isabelle because she adored the nickname Elsie (named after the little girl from the story about the girls who took the fairy photographs which was then made into that movie A Fairy Tale or something like that) and thought Isabelle was a beautiful full version. Prairie named after the Little House on the Prairie books which were her favourites growing up and whose heroine Laura she herself was named after.

  27. Keligh Rebecca Clare Booth

  28. My name is Lucy Alice B. (Don't want to put my surname on here)

I was supposed to have many names at different periods, eg Jessica, but my family didn't agree with one another. So they consulted my aunt and it was she who suggested calling me Lucy. And Alice was a middle name which they all liked. I like my name! It's not too common and not overly unusual.

My siblings are Zac Austin, Elizabeth Rose and Madeleine Kaye. Those were names that my parents liked and meant something to the whole family. I like those too! They're cool.

  29. Mallory: Named after the girl on the show Family Ties.. because my parents both liked it, had never heard it before & there was no one in the area with that name (after I was born, there a 3 more)

Kay-Lynn: Kay is after my grammy.. Kathryn & Lynn is after my aunt Cora-Lynn.. I was born directly in the middle of their birthdates.. so half and half.. I think it's a pretty cool middle name with a cool meaning.. and HATE it when people call me Mallory Katelynn lol.

You all have really nice names :)
