My BlackBerry seems to be locked. How do I unlock it?

There's a wide gray arrow in the upper-right hand corner, covering the signal strength bars. My BlackBerry is password-protected, and it is allowing me to enter the password, but nothing happens when I press enter. (I know I'm entering the correct password, and I am not pressing Alt or Num Lock). What's going on?

Best thing to do is turn it over and pull out the battery for 10 seconds, then put it back in - this usually cures most temporary Blackberry problems.
